So far we showed that a fusion process (we hypothesize with a lysosome, but have no direct proof for it) underlies the increase in the food vacuole’s size and its acidification. We were also able to demonstrate that this particular fusion process does not affect the food vacuoles migration across the cell.
 
Consider the scientific process we have described at the beginning of this tutorial(illustrated to the right). 
We tried to elucidate the mechanisms underlying pH changes within the food vacuoles. 

Following the virtual experiments we have performed we now have new observations (fusion processes affect pH changes of the food vacuole and its size but don't affect the vacuole's movement across the cell). 

These observations in turn can serve to form new hypotheses, which should also be tested experimentally.
